The BMKG InaTEWS project, a part of the Indonesia Disaster Resilience Initiative Project (IDRIP), serves as the operational and computational hub for the Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System (InaTEWS). This project involves the construction of two buildings: one in Jakarta and another in Bali. Given the crucial role of these facilities, both are designated as Risk Category IV structures. To enhance their performance and ensure functionality after a major earthquake, each building will incorporate base isolation as a passive earthquake protection system.

 

The Jakarta facility utilizes Friction Pendulum (FP) technology, making it the first building in Indonesia and SE Asia to implement this system. Meanwhile, the Bali facility uses Lead Rubber Bearings (LRB).

 

The InaTEWS Jakarta building is an eight-story structure with two basements: one for functional use and another specifically for base isolation compartment. In contrast, the Bali facility, serving as a backup system, will be a three-story building with a single basement for base isolation.

 

The bored piles and retaining walls for the Bali site were completed in May 2024, while those for the Jakarta site were finished in June 2024. Construction of the BMKG InaTEWS Bali concrete structure was completed in October 2024 and followed by the Jakarta location one month later.
