The PIM 3 – Plaza 6 Connecting Bridge is a significant addition to the vibrant commercial fabric of South Jakarta, enhancing pedestrian connectivity through elegant structural simplicity. Designed to link two major lifestyle and retail destinations, this pedestrian bridge not only fulfills a vital functional need but also elevates the architectural relationship between the two developments.
Spanning approximately 82.25 meters across a busy urban thoroughfare, the bridge features a steel truss system with a composite concrete slab, resulting in a structural solution that is both lightweight and robust. The main trusses are supported by a combination of fixed and guided bearing systems, allowing for controlled movement, thermal expansion, and efficient stress distribution—ensuring long-term safety and durability.
As the appointed Structural Engineering Consultant, our role was to deliver a high-performance design that seamlessly integrates structural precision, constructability, and architectural quality. The project presented several challenges, including complex interface coordination with existing buildings, limited construction access, and tight urban traffic constraints— all of which were resolved through rigorous engineering and close multidisciplinary collaboration.
