Constructed on a land area of 23,900 square meters, the Pondok Indah Mall 3 and Office Towers is a mixed-use development project located in Jalan Kartika Utama, Pondok Indah, South Jakarta. It is a part of the Pondok Indah Town Center development which consists of two 27-storey tall office towers (one tower has been completed so far), a 4-level mall podium with a multi-function hall at the rooftop, and a 4-level basement for parking.

Davy Sukamta & Partners was appointed as the structural and geotechnical engineering consultant firm. We designed a temporary connecting bridge between the Pondok Indah Office Tower and Pondok Indah Mall 2 during the construction stage. The bridge structure is supported by 22 meters of high cantilever columns.

The new basement is to be constructed adjacent to the existing building of Pondok Indah Office Tower 1 and 3. Due to this limitation, we oversaw a combination of temporary retaining structure support systems during the excavation. A temporary strutting system has been applied for the area adjacent to the existing basement, while the other area used 3 layers of ground anchors.

The mall has a giant canopy at the main entrance lobby, referred to as cloud canopy. This canopy has an oval-shaped geometry with 64 meters span in the longitudinal axis and 50.5 meters span in the transverse direction short axis. The structural system of the canopy consists of steel boxed-shape space trusses supported by six columns rising from three different levels. These columns also support the bridge that connects the outdoor dining wing space and the entrance canopy of the new mall. The tallest columns stand 30 meters above the ground floor. Steel box truss system is chosen considering its superior capabilities to resisting load in both major and minor direction. The mall is opened in April 2021.
