The Journey is a church complex located in Summarecon Bandung, spanning an expansive site of approximately 19,046 square meters. This development features three main buildings: a 4-story concert hall and museum, a 3-story commercial and function hall, and a 4-story dormitory. The project represents a harmonious blend of modern architectural vision and complex engineering challenges, requiring meticulous planning and innovative solutions.

One of the most significant challenges of this project lies in the site’s geotechnical conditions. The presence of a very soft under-consolidated clay layer poses unique difficulties, offering minimal lateral and vertical resistance while presenting a high potential for negative skin friction. To address these issues, our team implemented rigorous ground improvement measures, conducted specialized foundation studies, and performed site-specific seismic response analyses to ensure a stable and resilient foundation system. These efforts underscore our commitment to engineering precision and the safety of the structure.

In addition to the geotechnical challenges, the structural design required sophisticated solutions to meet the architectural demands of the project. The column-free design of the function hall, plaza, and concert hall necessitated the use of long-span steel structures for the roof, achieving a balance between aesthetic aspirations and practical considerations.

The piling work was completed in June 2023, followed by the topping-off of the Function Hall in November 2023. The concrete structure of the Museum was finished in November 2024, with the Dormitory Building scheduled for completion in January 2025. Davy Sukamta & Partners also provided a Resident Engineer to ensure compliance with the design drawings and specifications.
