The Plaza Office Tower is a 42-storey prestigious office building on Jalan Thamrin, Jakarta. It was part of the Plaza Indonesia Extension project. The project was constructed using a design-construct basis, where SsangYong Engineering Construction of South Korea appointed Davy Sukamta & Partners as their structural and foundation engineer.
This building was the first to adopt a 2475-year earthquake as its design basis. The lateral resisting system for the Plaza is a dual reinforced concrete core wall and frames, sitting on a 5-level subterranean structure and bored piles. Construction time for the Plaza was 33 months. The schedule was achieved using a top-down construction method, whereupon completion of the B-5 level, the superstructure reached 10 levels.
