The Regatta is an award-winning architectural design, located in the serene surrounds of Mutiara Beach. This project consists of four 24-storey towers of luxury apartment developments, with 368 units of high-class apartments. The towers stand elegantly like ships with tall sails at the bay of Jakarta. It is part of a comprehensive program in Mutiara Beach, where the total development consists of 10 apartment towers, a hotel, and a theme park.
The design concept is a nautical theme, and the orientation of the buildings provides the best possible views of the beautiful waterfront. The sails on top of the towers use a tensile membrane structure, which is supported by four pairs of 28.4 metres of high steel box masts on each side. The reinforced concrete structure follows the shape of the sails by adjusting the cantilever slab portion, where all other main structural elements remain regular and repetitive. This was the key to the constructability of this building, and hence the speed of construction.
As the project was built on reclaimed land, a special study was given to the liquefaction issue and the lateral capacity of the foundation during an earthquake. The effect of negative skin friction has been addressed in the pile design. The total number of 0.6 metre diameter piles used is 980 piles.
The first phase of this development consisted of the four luxury 24-storey with 368 units of high-class apartments. The total floor area for Phase 1 was 90,353 square metres.
