Situated on 16,984 square meters of land in the Summarecon Bandung region is Rumah Sakit Santo Borromeus. It comprises a six-story building with one mezzanine level.

A major challenge encountered during this project is the potential for negative skin friction due to the site’s deep layer of soft clay and compressible soil beneath the surface. Negative skin friction occurs when the surrounding soil settles more rapidly than the piles, creating additional downward forces and potentially causing structural issues.

To counteract this issue, an extensive ground improvement prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) with surcharge preloading techniques were implemented. In addition, a comprehensive foundation design and the application of bitumen coatings on the piles were carried out to mitigate the effects of negative skin friction and ensure the stability of the structures.
